March 21 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s finance ministry said it has agreed with Limak Kosovo International Airport, the operator of the country’s sole airport in Pristina, to extend its 20-year concession contract by twenty months as a compensation for the inactive period during the COVID-19 crisis.
During the extended period the concession fee will increase to 55% of gross revenues, from 34% in 2020 and 37% in 2021, the finance ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.
The government signed a concession agreement with Limak Kosovo International Airport, a joint venture between Turkish conglomerate Limak Holdings and France’s Lyon airport operator Aeroports de lyon management & services, in 2010.
According to the airport’s website, the operator has invested 150 million euro ($163 million) at the airport to date. It has also brought 160 million euro to the government of Kosovo in concession fees.
