PRISTINA (Kosovo), July 18 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Kosovo's banking sector rose to 33.4 million euro ($37.5 million) in the first five months of 2019, from 32.3 million euro in the like period of last year, Kosovo's central bank said.
The outstanding loan portfolio of Kosovo's banks expanded by 11.3% year-on-year to 2.9 billion euro at the end of May, the central bank said in a monthly report last week.
Deposits increased by 11.8%, reaching 3.44 billion euro at the end of May.
The Kosovo banking system's total assets grew to 4.27 billion euro as at the end of May from 3.87 billion euro a year earlier.
Return on assets (ROA) fell to 1.9%, from 2.2%. Return on equity also dropped, to 15.8% from 17.5%.
The figures comprise the financial results of 10 Kosovo banks. Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo and ProCredit Bank are the largest among them in terms of assets.
