June 8 (SeeNews) - Populist formation There Is Such a People (TISP), a junior partner in Bulgaria's four-party ruling coalition, is withdrawing from the government, party leader Slavi Trifonov said on Wednesday, after the TISP ministers left a cabinet meeting on a proposed state budget revision.
"I am putting an end to this colaition and this agony," Trifonov said, as as seen in a video address broadcast by state television BNT.
Reacting to Trifonov's statement, prime minister Kiril Petkov said he is prepared to run the country with a minority government. "We have the full support of [the other coalition partners] the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Democratic Bulgaria," Petkov said, as quoted in a statement on the government website.
TISP has four cabinet ministers and 25 members of parliament (MPs) in the 240-seat parliament.
The four formations comprising the government - We Continue the Change, led by Petkov, BSP, TISP and the anti-status quo, pro-reform Democratic Bulgaria coalition - hold a majority of 134 MPs in the 240-seat parliament after winning snap elections in November.
The November general elections were the country's third vote for parliament last year.
