BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), November 3 (SeeNews) – Japan will lend 93 million euro ($136 million) to Bosnian coal mining and energy complex Ugljevik in support of a project for a flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) system, Bosnia’s Serb Republic Finance Ministry said.
Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Republic’s state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda RS and Ugljevik signed on Monday a 117 million euro draft agreement for the implementation of an FGD system at the complex, the Finance Ministry said on its website.
Ugljevik, which is an Elektroprivreda RS subsidiary, will contribute 24 million euro of own funds to the project which aims to reduce air pollution in the Republic, the statement said.
The 30-year JICA credit has a 10-year grace period and an annual interest of 0.55%.
The Serb Republic is one of post-war Bosnia's two autonomous parts. The other one is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
