PODGORICA (Montenegro), April 9 (SeeNews) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it expects Montenegro’s economy to expand by a real 2.8% in 2019, increasing its forecast for 2.5% growth projected in October last year.
Montenegro's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow 2.5% in 2020 and 2.9% in 2021, the IMF said in its April 2018 World Economic Outlook report published on Tuesday.
According to the IMF, Montenegro saw an estimated economic growth of a high 4.5% in 2018.
The IMF expects an average consumer price inflation of 0.9% in Montenegro in 2019, down from 2.6% in 2018. The average inflation is seen at 1.7% in 2020 and 2.0% in 2024.
Montenegro's current account deficit is projected at 17.5% of GDP in 2019, before shrinking to 14.5% next year. The shortfall is expected to decline to 9.6% of GDP in 2024. The current account gap was equivalent to 18.5% in 2018.
