BELGRADE (Serbia), October 3 (SeeNews) – Swedish home furnishing retailer IKEA plans to complete the construction of a 50 million euro ($57.8 million) retail park in Belgrade by the end of 2020, the CEO of the company for Southeast Europe (SEE), Stefan Vanoverbeke, said on Wednesday.
The construction of the retail part will be launched in the spring of next year and will be completed in the spring of 2020, Vanoverbeke said, as quoted in a statement by Serbia's infrastructure ministry.
"This project will not only bring to our country new revenues and an investment worth 50 million euro, but will allow the employment of 400 people," Serbia's infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said during a meeting with Vanoverbeke in Belgrade.
IKEA plans to invest a total of 200 million euro in Serbia in the next five years, the Balkan country's labour minister Zoran Djordjevic said last month.
In August 2017, IKEA opened a store in Belgrade, its first one in Serbia.
