February 5 (SeeNews) - Hungarian textile company Szegedi Szefo and Serbian sector player Slaviris have signed an agreement to open a knitted garments factory in Bac, in northern Serbia, with the municipal government.
The municipal government said in a statement last week it signed a cooperation agreement with Szegedi Szefo and Slaviris for the construction of a factory with 50 sewing machines, which will employ 100 workers in two shifts.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Bac municipality will provide the necessary logistical and expert support to the investors in the selection and testing of workers.
Szegedi Szefo and Slaviris plan to train employees in two phases. The first phase will be carried out in Bac and the second in the Hungarian town of Szeged, the local government added.
The Hungarian state is the sole shareholder in Szegedi Szefo through the Hungarian National Asset Management holding. Szegedi Szefo exports to 40 countries worldwide, according to data from its website.
