Through the acquisition, Holcim is expanding its aggregates division while securing an increased volume of high-quality aggregate reserves and consolidating its position within the market.
“Through this acquisition and with its experience of over 25 years in the Romanian market, Holcim Romania will strengthen its position as a supplier of integrated solutions for the construction market, through its cement, concrete, aggregate, hydraulic road binders, filler, precast and AAC divisions,” Bogdan Dobre, CEO of Holcim Romania and Market Head Moldova, said.
In October, Romania’s competition authority approved the takeover of ready-mix concrete producer General Beton by Holcim Romania.
The Holcim Romania group encompasses Holcim Romania, which owns two cement plants in Campulung and Alesd, a grinding station, 27 concrete stations, three aggregate plants, two special binder stations, three cement terminals and three project sites for pre-treating waste, and Somaco Group Prefabricate, which owns five prefabricated products plants and one AAC plant.
