PODGORICA (Montenegro), October 4 (SeeNews) – Hilton Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora, marking Hilton's debut in Montenegro, the country's government said on Tuesday.
The opening of this elite hotel is expected to help Montenegro achieve the status of a prestigious European tourist destination, the government said in a statement quoting prime minister Milo Djukanovic.
Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora, situated in the heart of Podgorica, offers 180 spacious and modern guest rooms, including 23 suites, Hilton said last month in an announcement of the hotel's opening.
The hotel encompasses a business center, a 425-square-metre Crystal Ballroom and a wellness complex, along with several bars and restaurants.
"Montenegro, one of the oldest European states and often referred to as the pearl of the Mediterranean, is an exciting new destination for Hilton as we expand our global portfolio of more than 570 hotels," Andreas Lackner, regional head of the Hilton brand management, said last month.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, tourism in Montenegro generates 20% of GDP, and will rise to over 30% in just 10 years.
