May 28 (SeeNews) - Slovenian white goods manufacturer Gorenje [LJE:GRVG] has successfully completed talks for the partial lease-out of its sanitary equipment factory in Serbia's Zajecar to German bathroom furniture producer and retailer Emotion, a subsidiary of Gorenje said.
The German company has leased 7,000 sq m at the 17,000-sq m factory and plans to hire 80 employees for its operation, Gorenje Home said in a statement on Wednesday.
Emotion plans to resume the manufacturing of products of the Gorenje Home portfolio through its Serbian subsidiary Emotion Home Srbija in June and there will be no suspension of production activities at the Zajecar factory, Gorenje Home said.
"We continue to look for a solution for the functioning of the remaining 10,000 square meters of the site," Gorenje Home said.
In May, the director of the factory, Vlado Krebs, said Gorenje is intensively negotiating with two potential partners who would rent or buy the production capacities and re-employ its workers.
Gorenje started the production of sanitary equipment under the Gorenje Home brand in Zajecar in 2011 after it acquired the factory of local sector player Porcelan. The company has invested 10 million euro ($10.8 million) in the development of the factory.
