October 9 (SeeNews) - The Romanian subsidiary of US technology giant Google has opened hubs in three Romanian universities as part of its national Digital Developer Workshop programme.
The three permanent regional hubs are active in universities located in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara, Google said in a press release on Tuesday.
The three locations are - Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Bucharest, the Technical University in Cluj and the Faculty of Management in Construction, Polytechnic University of Timisoara.
Interested students will have the opportunity to attend free programming courses for beginners or advanced learners.
Also, the three Google hubs will work as incubators for start-ups, providing free co-working space for young people who want to launch a business.
Young entrepreneurs will attend mentoring sessions for identification of growth opportunities for their business ideas, training sessions with Google experts, and access to the Google Cloud for Startups programme. The six-month programme closes through a Demo Day session where participants present their ideas to investors and technology experts.
Digital Developer Workshop is part of the "Grow with Google" initiative, with a global goal to create opportunities for everyone by offering courses, resources and free advice. Through the Digital Workshop broader programme that Google launched in 2016 in Romania, it aims to help people find a job, to advance in a career or to develop their business by acquiring digital skills.
Google opened an office in Romania in 2010. The Bucharest office is one of over 70 Google offices in more than 40 countries, where over 53,000 people are employed.
