March 19 (SeeNews) - German audio equipment manufacturer Sennheiser said on Monday it plans to build its fourth global plant in Romania's central city of Brasov in 2018.
By investing into a new factory, Sennheiser intends to strengthen its position on the European electronics market, the company said in a press release. The value of the planned investment was not disclosed.
"For many years, our biggest growth was concentrated in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. With our new factory in Romania, we will have a third European production base and, at the same time, we will expand our distribution network in Europe," Sennheiser's co-CEO Andreas Sennheiser said.
"This will give us better control over production volumes and the ability to be more flexible in adapting our products to dynamic market demands," he added.
In the first stage of operations, the Brasov factory will focus on the production of electronics for the general public.
"The main reasons why we chose Brasov is its infrastructure and its very good connection with the European economic area," Sennheiser co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser said.
Sennheiser is a German privately held audio company specializing in the design and production of a wide range of high fidelity products, including microphones, headphones, telephony accessories and avionics headsets for personal, professional and business applications.
It operates three factories in Germany, Ireland and the U.S. and works with 20 sales subsidiaries and trading partners in more than 50 countries around the world.
