October 6 (SeeNews) - German pharmaceutical group Phoenix will open its first pharmacy under the BENU brand in Bulgaria, retailer Kaufland Bulgaria said on Friday.
The new pharmacy will be located in Kaufland's new store in the capital Sofia, which is set to open this month, Kaufland Bulgaria, part of German retail chain Kaufland, said in a press release.
The partnership between Kaufland and BENU is part of the retailer's One Stop Shopping concept, aimed at offering customers a comprehensive shopping experience.
BENU, one of the largest pharmaceutical chains in Europe, operates over 1,400 pharmacies across 14 countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Czechia and Serbia. It entered the Bulgarian market as an online pharmacy at the end of 2022.
Mannheim-headquartered Phoenix Group specialises in pharmaceutical wholesale, pharmacy retail and pharmaceutical industry services, according to its website. The group is active in 29 markets, with a workforce of over 48,000 staff.
Kaufland Bulgaria, which generates an annual turnover of some 1.9 billion levs ($1.02 billion/971.5 million euro), has 63 hypermarkets in 35 cities across the country, including 13 sites in Sofia.
