March 23 (SeeNews) - German packaged food producer Mamminger Konserven plans to invest 2.5 million euro ($3.1 million) in the construction of a factory in Zabalj municipality, in northern Serbia, the government of the northern autonomous province of Vojvodina said.
Mamminger Konserven plans to open 300 jobs at the factory, to be located in the village of Gospodjinci, the Vojvodina government said in a statement on Thursday.
The German company officially started the construction of the factory on Thursday, the Vojvodina government said.
Mamminger Konserven annually purchases about 15,000 tons of cucumbers from some 200 cooperatives in Vojvodina and in southern Serbia and one-third of them will be processed in the factory, the government said.
The company is active in the canning of fruits, vegetables, and fruit and vegetable juices, according to data from its corporate website.
