December 1 (SeeNews) - German tyre manufacturer Continental plans to build a new master batch processing unit in its tyre plant in Romania’s western city of Timisoara in the next two years, the company said.
The investment, projected in the double digits in euro, will allow the company to have a completely integrated production unit, which will consolidate the tyre business in Romania and increase the cost competitiveness of the tyre plant, Continental said in a statement.

The project will lead to creating around 200 new jobs in the medium term.
"The expansion program will improve the technological flow and will ensure complete autonomy to the plant," Continental said.
"The technological process fully complies with the current European Union regulation regarding the environmental protection. All emissions will be collected, a filtration system will be installed, and the carbon black and oils will use a pressure-tight isolated circuit."
The plant in Timisoara currently produces 40,000 passenger car tyres per day.
In Romania, Continental owns eight production units, three research and development centres and an East-European tyres distribution centre. The company entered Romania in 1998 and has invested 350 million euro ($528 million) in the country so far.
