October 11 (SeeNews) - German automotive supplier Hella said on Tuesday it has opened two new development sites in the Romanian cities of Iasi and Oradea, as part of a plan to expand its European research and development network in the electronics area.
At the two sites, the company will develop technologies used along market trends such as automated driving and electromobility, it said in a press release.

Within the next three to four years, a total of up to 300 new jobs are to be created within the centres, the company added.
The focus of the centre in Oradea is to develop new product solutions for electric vehicles, such as battery management systems and voltage converters. At the centre in Iasi, the company initially develops software tests for 77 GHz radar sensors, needed for assisted and automated driving.
"The need for electronics solutions is continuously increasing as the industry continues to change. With our two new development sites, we are further strengthening our positioning to meet the high demand for our products," said Björn Twiehaus, Managing Director Electronics at Hella.
Hella has operated in Romania for more than 17 years and currently employs 4,500. The company operates a regional administrative center, three manufacturing facilities, and three additional development sites in Romania.
