January 12 (SeeNews) - The main equity index of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) reached its highest level in five years on Wednesday, supported by a rise in the shares of food and pharmaceuticals producer Podravka [ZSE:PODR] and Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT], bourse data showed.
The 21-share blue-chip CROBEX index finished at 2.157,58, up 0.33%, its highest level since February 2017, according to ZSE data. The narrower CROBEX10 index which is tracking the top ten companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, added 0.37% to end at 1,305.79 points.
Podravka was the most liquid stock with a turnover of 960,400 kuna ($181,000/160,000 euro). Its share price gained 0.61% to finish at 660 kuna.
Index heavyweight Hrvatski Telekom advanced 0.27% to end at 185.50 kuna in a turnover of 386,000 kuna.
Power transmission equipment manufacturer Dalekovod [ZSE:DLKV] was the biggest daily gainer as its share price surged 31.11% to 118 kuna.
Fertiliser producer Petrokemija [ZSE:PTKM] lost 6.71% to end at 30.60 kuna following media reports that Turkish holding company Yildirim has submitted a binding bid for it. The fertiliser producer recently announced plan to delist from the Zagreb bourse.
ZSE's turnover declined to 6.6 million kuna from 7.7 million kuna on Tuesday.
