March 26 (SeeNews) - French hospitality group Accor said it has opened a hotel under its mid-range brand Mercure in Albania's capital Tirana.
The 64-room Mercure hotel is located near the highway connecting the capital to the port city of Durres, Accor said in a social media post last week.
The group decided to open a hotel in Tirana as foreign tourist arrivals in Albania surpassed 10 million in 2023, with the capital being one of their main destinations.
Foreign tourist arrivals saw a 35% increase in 2023 compared to the previous year, the tourism ministry said earlier.
In 2021, Accor opened its first hotel in Albania, under its premium brand Movenpick, in the Lalz bay touristic area near Durres.
Accor manages more than 40 hotel brands, with more than 5,600 locations across 110 countries, according to its website. Its brands are categorised into economy, midscale, premium and luxury – which involves renowned brands such as Rixos and Fairmont.
