LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 3 (SeeNews) – A total of 4,296,134 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the ten months through October, up 7.0% year-on-year, the state statistical office said on Tuesday, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 3.1% on the year to 10,438,783 in the January-October period, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of domestic tourists rose by 1.8% to 1,320,233, taking the total number of tourists to 5,616,367, up 5.7% compared to January-October 2018.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 3,869,977 in the first ten months of 2019, down 1.5% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 14,308,760, up 1.8%.
In October alone, 335,955 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 7.0% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists edged up 0.6% to 751,589.
In October, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Germany and Austria, accounting for 13% and 11% of the total, respectively, followed by Italy with 9%.
Around 25% of all overnight stays were spent in health spa resorts, followed by 21% in mountain resorts.
In 2018, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased by 7.8% to 5,933,266, while overnight stays added 10.5% to 15,694,705.
