May 15 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investments (FDI) into Romania declined 22% on the year to 1.075 billion euro ($1.16 billion) at the end of March, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Revised data from BNR showed that FDI reached 1.375 billion euro during the January-March period of 2016.
During the first three months of 2017, equity investment amounted to 1.258 billion euro and inter-company lending recorded a net negative value of 183 million euro, the BNR said in a statement citing provisional data.
FDI into Romania increased 18% last year, reaching 4.08 billion euro - its highest value since 2008, when it totalled 9.5 billion euro. In 2009, FDI fell sharply to 3.49 billion euro due to the global economic crisis that affected the Romanian economy.
