July 24 (SeeNews) - The power distribution and supply units of EVN Bulgaria filed complaints on Wednesday against the planned cuts in electricity prices from August 1 by the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC), the company said in an e-mail.
EVN Bulgaria’s power distribution subsidiary stated that the expenditure cuts proposed by the regulator are below the sustainable minimum and jeopardize the system security. The utility pointed out in an e-mailed statement that through the latest revision by SEWRC the total decrease in its power prices for the period between June 30, 2008 - August 1, 2013 will amount to 23.11%.
The other subsidiary of EVN Bulgaria, its power supplier, claimed that the regulator did not consider the entire amount of EVN's expenditures and did not apply a uniform procedure for determining the price revisions of the three power utilities in the country. Moreover, the utility considers that the amount envisaged for mandatory purchasing of green energy by the regulator is highly insufficient.
EVN Bulgaria is part of Austrian energy group EVN and is operating in southern Bulgaria.
