November 26 (SeeNews) - Eurobank Bulgaria, operating under the Postbank brand, said on Tuesday it has officially opened three pilot digital offices in Sofia as part of its expansion drive following the successful completion of its merger with Piraeus Bank Bulgaria.
The lender intends to open more of its new-generation digital offices across the country within a period of one to two years, the CEO of Eurobank Bulgaria, Petya Dimitrova, told SeeNews at the inauguration ceremony.
Dimitrova did not provide details on the investment in the newly opened offices, as they differ in size, but said that the investment in all the planned branches will be in the millions. The bank will focus on investments in digital solutions and new technology at the new locations.
The new innovative branches have digital self-service zones and smart ATMs with deposit functions. Postbank plans to gradually expand the options available at its self-service zones, it said in a press release.
Dimitrova said that the bank expects to continue its expansion next year.
"We are among the top three and we'll keep that way," she said.
Eurobank Bulgaria said earlier this month it has successfully completed the operational merger with its unit Piraeus Bank Bulgaria - the final stage of a deal which is of great importance for Eurobank Group and is part of its strategy to expand its operations on the markets where it holds a leading position.
After the completion of its operational merger with Piraeus Bank Bulgaria, Eurobank Bulgaria now has an expanded network of over 200 branches and holds a market share of over 10% in assets, credits and deposits on the Bulgarian market, it said in the press release.
