March 18 (SeeNews) - E.ON Energie Romania, a unit of German utility E.ON, said on Thursday that it was awarded a 8.25 million lei ($2.01 million/ 1.7 million euro) contract to install a smart public lighting system at two locations in Timis county, in western Romania.
The contract for smart lighting system in the of the city of Gataia and neighboring Sculia locality was awarded to E.ON following a public tender, the company said in a press release.
Under the contract, E.ON will develop and deliver the turnkey public lighting system to local authorities within 12 months.
The new system will cut public energy consumption by 47%.
Starting 2018, E.ON has modernized lighting systems in 27 Romanian localities in Romania.
