May 17 (SeeNews) - The European Commission on Wednesday welcomed the decision of Macedonian president Gjorge Ivanov to mandate SDSM leader Zoran Zaev to form government and expressed EU's support for the future cabinet.
"We expect now a swift formation of the government committed to implementing all parts of the Przino agreement and the Urgent Reform Priorities," EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn said in a joint statement.
Mogherini and Hahn urged political parties in Macedonia to put aside their divisions and work jointly for the reforms, which are necessary to bring Macedonia back on its Euro-Atlantic integration path.
"We hope that this constructive spirit will continue to prevail so that the country can finally come out of the political crisis," they said.
Macedonia's new government will be formed within the next ten days, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said earlier on Wednesday after president Gjorge Ivanov gave him the mandate.
