September 28 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday that it has agreed to provide a loan of 25 million euro ($26.3 million) to Serbian state-owned railway operator Srbija Voz for three rail depots.
Srbija Voz will use the loan to build a new regional depot in Nis and rehabilitate two existing depots in Zemun and Sombor, EBRD said in a press release.
The funding will enable Srbija Voz not only to support construction efforts for the depots but also to acquire new maintenance equipment and oversee works, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of passenger services.
"This will help to unlock economic opportunities, strengthen regional integration and promote a more sustainable model of transport," said EBRD director for the Western Balkans, Matteo Colangeli.
