November 30 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair said that Dubrovnik has become its third Croatian base following a $200 million (182 million euro) investment.
The investment enables the introduction of two new-generation Boeing 8-200 aircraft for the summer of 2024. These planes offer 4% more capacity, reduce fuel consumption by 16%, and decrease noise emissions by 40%, according to Ryanair's statement on its LinkedIn profile on Wednesday.
Starting the upcoming summer, Ryanair will expand its operations from Dubrovnik to include 18 routes, featuring 16 new destinations such as Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Wroclaw.
Ryanair also plans increased frequencies on existing Dublin and Vienna routes from Dubrovnik.
Ryanair expects to carry more than 600,000 passengers within the first 12 months to and from Dubrovnik. The establishment of the new base will create more than 500 new local jobs, including 60 high-paid pilot and cabin crew jobs.
Ryanair's other hubs in the Adriatic country are in the capital Zagreb and the coastal town of Zadar.
