November 11 (SeeNews) - Croatia's retail market expanded 8.4% last year, following an increase of 0.8% in 2020, the country’s competition agency, AZTN, said in a survey encompassing 47 of the country's biggest retailers.
The survey showed that the overall revenue of the convenience stores run by these retailers exceeded 43 billion kuna ($5.9 billion/5.7 billion euro) last year, an annual increase of 3.4 billion kuna in nominal terms, after rising by 306 million kuna in 2020, AZTN said in a press release on Thursday.
The biggest retailer in 2021 was Konzum Plus with a 20-30% market share, slightly lower compared to 2020, despite an increase of the company's revenue from its 620 convenience stores.
The members of German retail group Schwarz continued to grow their sales, with the market share of Lidl estimated at 10 to 20%, and the market share of Kaufland at 5 to 10%, AZTN said.
