April 29 (SeeNews) - Croatian port operator Luka Rijeka [ZSE:LKRI] said on Friday its net profit rose to 14.1 million kuna ($2.0 million/1.9 million euro) in the first quarter of 2022, from 6.4 million kuna a year earlier.
Total operating revenue increased by 10% year-on-year to 45.8 million kuna in the January-March period, while operating costs rose to 42.7 million kuna from 40.5 million kuna, Luka Rijeka said in a unconsolidated financial statement filed with the Zagreb bourse.
The port operator handled 577,924 tonnes of cargo in the first three months of 2022, up 7% on the year. The volume of general cargo processed by Luka Rijeka in January-March rose 32% to 189,180 tonnes, container cargo surged 301% to 68,952 tonees, while bulk cargo fell 16% to 319,792 tonnes.
Luka Rijeka's shares last traded on the Zagreb bourse on Wednesday, closing 0.70% higher at 28.80 kuna.
Rijeka, situated in the northern part of the Kvarner Bay, is the largest seaport in Croatia.
