September 20 (SeeNews) - The main equity indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) fell by more then one percent each on Monday as gains in food and pharmaceuticals producer Podravka [ZSE:PODR] failed to offset losses in shipping company Atlantska Plovidba [ZSE:ATPL], hotel operator Valamar Riviera [ZSE:RIVP], telecom Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT] and holding company Adris [ZSE:ADRS2], bourse data showed.
The ZSE's blue-chip 21-share benchmark CROBEX dropped 1.48% to end at 1,939.57 points.
The narrower of the ZSE's two blue-chip indices, the CROBEX10, which tracks the top 10 companies from Crobex in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, lost 1.17% to finish at 1,190.61 points.
Podravka was the most traded share generating a turnover of 8.4 million kuna ($1.4 million/1.1 million euro). Its shares rose 0.33% to end at 600 kuna.
Atlantska Plovidba's shares dropped 5.66% to end at 467 kuna in a turnover of 1.9 million kuna.
Valamar Riviera's shares fell 2.04% to end at 28.80 kuna in a turnover of 1.9 million kuna.
Hrvatski Telekom's shares ended 0.78% lower at 190.50 kuna on a turnover of 700,000 kuna.
Preferred shares of Adris declined 2.16% to 407 kuna in a turnover of 635,300 kuna.
Shares of indebted engineering group Djuro Djakovic [ZSE:DDJH] surged 25.94% to end at 3.69 kuna in a turnover of 123,700 kuna on Monday following media reports that negotiations between the European Commission and the Croatian government about a restructuring plan for the company including its acquisition by Czech company DD Acquisition would end this week. According to the report in daily Jutarnji List, if the talks are successful the government has to cover the company's debts of some 360 million kuna.
The ZSE's turnover rose to 18.8 million kuna on Monday from 15.6 million kuna on Friday.
Following a regular revision of the share indices after the end of the trading session on September 17, the indices were calculated with new constituents as of September 20.
