June 19 (SeeNews) - Croatian state roads operator Hrvatske Ceste signed a 456.4 million kuna ($67.7 million/60.4 million euro) contract with a consortium comprising Croatia's GP Krk, Slovenia's Kolektor CPG and Bosnia's Euro-Asfalt to build the Skurinje-Port of Rijeka road section, the government in Zagreb said.
The road will link the Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal and the western part of Croatia's largest Adriatic port of Rijeka with the city's bypass road, the government said in a statement on Thursday when the deal was signed.
The road will be only some 3 km long but will include several complex facilities such as the 1.2 km Podmurvice tunnel, the 316-metre Piopi viaduct and the 144-metre Mlaka viaduct. It will also have 380 metres of access roads, the statement read.
Works are expected to start within a month and to last 2.5 years.
The project is 85%-financed by European Union grants, the government said.
