January 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's tourism ministry said on Tuesday it is expecting about 25% more flights to the country's airports in 2018.
This year Croatia will focus on forging links with air carriers and foreign travel agencies to boost out-of-season demand for the country's tourist products, the ministry said in a statement, adding that it will do so via a project launched by Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ).
HTZ last year launched a call for expressions of interest in the implementation of strategic promotional campaigns in source markets in 2018.
Some 60 applications have so far been received, mostly from Germany, UK, Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Poland, Russia, Spain and the United States, the ministry said, citing the director of HTZ's head office, Kristjan Stanicic.
On Monday, Croatia's tourism ministry reported a record-high 18.5 million tourist arrivals in 2017, up 13% on the year, while overnight stays climbed 12% to a record 102 million.
