Bulgaria’s May jobless rate edged down by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month to 11.2%, marking a decline for a third month in a row, according to data of the country’s Employment Agency.
In annual terms the rate went up by 0.2 percentage points, the government agency said in a statement on Friday.
A total of 366,604 unemployed were registered at the agency’s offices at the end of last month, down by 13,881 from April.
The number of people who found a job in the first five months of the year totalled 115,212, up by 24,865 from a year earlier. Job vacancies in the primary labour market came in at 64,000, up by 4,500 compared with last year. The National Plan for Employment has provided 44,752 jobs.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007, has a population of 7.33 million.
