Bulgaria will open tender procedures for the construction of a 64-km section of motorway Struma in 2015, news agency BTA said citing transport minister Danail Papazov.
The project is estimated at 750 million euro ($1.0 billion), Papazov added. Its design phase will be completed by the end of 2014.
The section - between the towns of Blagoevgrad and Sandanski through the Kresna gorge - is part of a highway connecting the capital with the Greek border.
The construction of Struma motorway, with a total length of 173.28 km, is divided into four sections, of which Lot 1 was completed in the summer, Lot 4 is under construction and Lot 2 is at a design stage.
