March 19 (SeeNews) - Confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection in Slovenia have increased to 319 by 2pm local time on Thursday, from Wednesday's 286, the government said.

This result comes after testing a total of 9,860 people, the government said in a statement.

Slovenia reported the first and so far only coronavirus fatality in the country on March 14.

On Tuesday, health minister Tomaz Gantar said the number of people infected by the coronavirus in the country is probably five times the officially confirmed cases.

On March 12, the government declared a state of emergency because of the coronavirus spread in the country, closing down schools, kindergartens, border crossings and public transport. In addition, all passenger flights inside the country were cancelled as of midnight on Monday.

The first confirmed coronavirus case in Slovenia was reported on March 4.
