September 20 (SeeNews) - ClusterPower, a cloud services provider founded and controlled by three Romanian entrepreneurs, said on Monday it has signed a partnership with the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, ICI, in Bucharest to deliver services in the field of cybersecurity for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Romania and the European Union.
The two entities will develop joint working procedures such as resilience, data backup, business continuity, customer data protection and GDPR, Cluster Power said in a press release.
At the same time, they will offer services for the development and implementation of these procedures, such as compliance audits, action plans and recommendations made by cybersecurity experts.
"The partnership with ICI is based on the common values of the two entities, namely excellence, security and innovation. Currently, the three main areas of joint action refer to cybersecurity, resilience, and Artificial Intelligence / High Performance Computing (HPC)," Cluster Power CEO Cosmin Georgescu said.
ClusterPower and ICI also intend to contribute at the set up of an AI and HPC National Centre of Excellence, which will be connected to the European ecosystem through the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
"This centre of excellence will facilitate the access of various industrial sectors to the HPC and AI infrastructure and expertise, on a national level. The solutions offered are based on flexibility and address a wide variety of users, including SMEs," Cosmin Georgescu added.
ClusterPower was founded in 2019 by Cosmin Georgescu, Vladimir Ester and Carmen Ursa Georgescu.
In August, the company announced it has started the construction of a data centre near the southern city of Craiova, in which it plans to invest 172 million lei ($43 million/ 36 million euro).
Out of the planned investment, 82 million lei is provided by state aid granted last year by the finance ministry. The difference will be covered by the company's own funds and other sources of financing, the company said at the time.
