July 10 (SeeNews) - China Railway Group (CREC) is interested in participating in a project for the overhaul of the railway line linking Croatia's Adriatic port of Rijeka to Hungary's capital Budapest, the Croatian president's office said
CREC aims to participate in major projects in road, rail, port and energy infrastructure in Croatia, and is interested in the modernisation of Rijeka-Zagreb-Budapest railway, the president's office quoted Zhang Zongyan, president of CREC, as saying in a press release.
The Chinese company participated in a tender for the reconstruction of the Zapresic-Zabok railway line in Croatia and was impressed by its professional organisation, Zongyan said during a meeting with Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, according to the press release.
A number of infrastructure projects are planned in Croatia and Chinese investors are invited to participate in tenders for them, Grabar-Kitarovic said during the meeting.
In March, Croatia's railway infrastructure operator HZ Infrastruktura said it picked Zagreb-based company Swietelsky d.o.o. to upgrade and electrify the railway section between Zapresic and Zabok.
