March 26 (SeeNews) - Chinese company China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has completed the installation of an excavator-conveyor-spreader (ECS) system in Drmno mining basin, the managing director of state-run power utility EPS, Milorad Grcic, said on Tuesday.
A total of $100 million (88.6 million euro) were invested in the installation of the system which is part of a project for the modernisation of Kostolac B coal-fired power plan, Grcic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug.
The system will increase the capacity of the Drmno mining basin to 12 million tonnes annually from the current 9 million tonnes, Grcic said.
The total investment in the modernisation of Kostolac B coal-fired power plant will stand at $715.6 million. A total of $608 million of it will be funded through a loan extended by China's Exim bank.
The list of CMEC subcontractors in the project includes German multinational conglomerate ThyssenKrupp and Swedish engineering company Sandvik, EPS said.
The 700 MW Kostolac B is part of thermal power and coal mining complex TE-KO Kostolac in eastern Serbia, which also includes the Drmno open-pit mine. TE-KO Kostolac operates another thermal power plant, Kostolac A, with an installed capacity of 310 MW.
