December 28 (SeeNews) - Canada's healthcare products manufacturer Eviana Health Corporation has said it suspended cannabidiol (CBD) extraction activities in Serbia in order to enhance its facility in the country and meet the increasing demand on the market.
"The company expects that the improvements to the existing facility will be completed and the facility operational within 3-6 months," Eviana said in a filing with the Canadian Securities Exchange earlier this week.
The extraction licence for producing CBD will only be effective and available to the company after the enhancements on the current facility are complete and inspected by the local government ministry, Eviana said.
Eviana has completed a comprehensive review of production processes to ensure alignment to safety, quality, and profitability objectives, and is now developing a plan to improve its initial extraction facility, and is examining an expansion plan for a new facility, to meet the increasing demand of the CBD market.
The company started commercial production of cannabidiol in Serbia in September, but shut down its facility later, due to power and ventilation issues.
Eviana company delivers customised consumer healthcare products using natural hemp strains of cannabis sativa for cannabinoid-based topical creams, products and cosmeceutical and nutraceutical merchandise.
In November, Eviana acquired a 100% interest in Eviana Inc., a private Ontario corporation that owns 100% of Intiva Plus and Eviana, two Serbian companies that hold licences authorising the growing of industrial hemp and extraction of CBD in Serbia. The company further announced at that time “two types of extraction processes, CO2 and ethanol, are both operational”.
