May 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Yambol municipality said on Thursday it has signed a 2.6 million levs ($1.5 million/1.3 million euro) deal for the construction of a green waste composting installation with a local consortium comprising Balkanika Energy and Aqva Construction.
The contract benefits from EU financing under operational programme Environment 2014-2020, the municipality said in a tender notice.
The deal was signed on May 22.
According to Bulgarian registry agency data, Sofia-based Balkanika Energy and Aqva Construction each hold 50% in the awarded tie-up.
Under the terms of the contract, the consortium will be responsible for the construction of a composting installation for sorted green and biodegradable waste collected on the territory of Yambol municipality. The composting installation will be located near the village of Hadzhidimitrovo and will have a processing capacity of 2,400 tonnes per year.
The contract also envisages project design, construction supervision and supply of the necessary equipment.
The awarded candidate submitted the sole offer in the public procurement tender. Technical criteria carried 60% weight in the ranking of the offer.
