February 12 (SeeNews) - The revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria increased 4.5% last year to over 1.52 billion levs ($837.4 million/766.9 million euro), the tourism ministry said.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign visitors grew 1.1% year-on-year in 2019, while revenues from Bulgarian nationals increased 14.6%, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria rose by 5% in 2019.
The revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria increased by 8.1% year-on-year in December, reaching 52.3 million levs, the country's statistical office, NSI, said earlier on Tuesday.
Revenues from overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists increased by 9.8% on the year in the last month of 2019, while revenues from overnights of foreign nationals rose by 5.6%, the NSI said.
