October 18 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria jumped by 46% on the year in September, reaching 2,117, as the overall EU new car market recorded a second consecutive month of growth, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said on Tuesday.
In the first nine months of 2022, registrations of new passenger cars in Bulgaria increased by 15% in annual terms to 21,975, ACEA said in a statement.

In the EU as a whole, new passenger car registrations climbed by 9.6% in September, reaching 787,870. However, this increase was largely driven by the low base of comparison from September 2021, when the semiconductor shortage hampered vehicle production, ACEA said.
Looking at the four largest EU markets, Germany and Spain recorded double-digit increases of 14% and 13% in September, respectively, while France and Italy showed more modest growth rates of 5.5% and 5.4%.
Despite the positive results in the last two months, new passenger car registrations in the 27-member bloc fell by 9.9% to 6.78 million over the first three quarters of 2022. This was reflected in most countries’ performance, with all the region’s major markets facing losses over the nine-month period.
In the EU12, which comprises countries that became EU members after 2004, new passenger car registrations rose by 8.8% to 93,317 in September. However, registration in the first nine months slipped by 6.9% to 851,471.
ACEA represents the 16 major Europe-based car, van, truck and bus makers: BMW Group, DAF Trucks, Daimler Truck, Ferrari, Ford of Europe, Honda Motor Europe, Hyundai Motor Europe, Iveco Group, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Renault Group, Stellantis, Toyota Motor Europe, Volkswagen Group, Volvo Cars, and Volvo Group.
