January 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian battery manufacturer Monbat [BUL:MONB] said on Friday that it repaid some 5.6 million euro ($6.10 million) of the principal of a 28 million euro bond after a delay.
The payment, which was initially due on January 20, was made on January 27, the company said in a bourse filing. Bondholders received 200 euro per bond.
The next repayment of the bond's principal is due on January 20, 2024, the company added.
Earlier this month, Monbat said it would push back the principal payment due to a delay in the finalisation of its deal with UK battery cell technology company Britishvolt, the proceeds of which it intended to use to service the repayment. Britishvolt collapsed into administration last week as talks with investors for a potential sale of a majority stake in the company seem to have fallen through. About 300 employees have already been dismissed.
