March 21 (SeeNews) - Electrodistribution North (ERP North), a subsidiary of Bulgaria's Energo-Pro Varna, is investing close to 310,000 levs ($170,656/158,500 euro) in a two-stage overhaul of the electricity grid near the city of Varna, the parent company said on Tuesday.
The company completed the first stage of the project, which was worth 185,000 levs and involved the upgrade of power grid equipment and cables in the village of Kumanovo near Varna, the electricity supplier said in a press release.
The upgrade works are part of ERP North's investment plan for 2023. The repaired section supplies power to 271 people.
Next week, ERP North will begin the second stage of the overhaul project in Kumanovo, for a total investment of some 125,000 levs, it added.
Energo-Pro Varna, part of Czech power utility group Energo-Pro, employs over 2,400 staff and serves some 1.2 million customers in nine regions of northeastern Bulgaria. It also operates as a wholesale electricity trader, with about 30,000 clients across the country.
