SOFIA (Bulgaria), March 27 (SeeNews) – Bulgarian food retailer Piccadilly said on Friday it opened its first conceptual store under the Piccadilly Gourmet brand.
The store, covering 2,200 sq m, is the 53rd Piccadilly store in the country and among its largest, Piccadilly said in a press release.
The gourmet store offers more than 17,000 high-end quality products in the food and drinks segment.
Piccadilly runs 32 supermarkets and 21 Piccadilly Daily convenience stores in Bulgaria. It operates in eight cities across the country – Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Lovec, Vidin, Plovdiv and Gabrovo.
In June 2014, the Piccadilly supermarket chain was acquired by local company AP Mart. Before that, the chain was part of Belgian international food retailer Delhaize Group.
In December last year, AP Mart and CMB Bulgaria, a unit of CM Balkans, the owner of the Carrefour franchise in the country, received regulatory approval to acquire joint control over AP Mart and to merge their supermarket operations in a 50/50 joint venture.
