July 14 (SeeNews) - The volume of retail trade in Bulgaria grew by 23.9% year-on-year in May, marking the highest rate of increase among EU member states, Eurostat said.
Romania, Croatia and Slovenia also posted an increase in retail trade volume - by 18.3%, 15% and 14.3%, respectively, the statistical office of the European Union said in estimates published last week.
In May, the calendar adjusted volume of retail trade increased by 9.0% on an annual comparison basis in the euro area and by 9.2% in the EU.
On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's volume of retail trade went up by 5.7%, followed by Slovenia's with 3.6%, Romania's with 2.4% and Bulgaria's with 1.4%, the estimates showed.
