April 10 (SeeNews) - Public natural gas supplier Bulgargaz said on Monday it is proposing to the energy regulator to approve a wholesale gas price of 90.10 levs ($49.99/46.06 euro) per MWh for May, or 8.21% lower than the price valid for April.
A cut of 17.21% is suggested in the wholesale natural gas price for June as compared to the price proposed for May, Bulgargaz said in a statement. The forecast June price is 74.59 levs per MWh.
At the start of this month, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) approved a natural gas price valid for April of 98.16 levs per MWh, or 8% lower compared to March.
Bulgargaz will make a definitive price request for next month on May 1, taking into account the quotations of the price-forming components as of April 30. As for the June price, the public supplier will table its final price request to the EWRC on June 1.
Bulgaria covers roughly a third of its natural gas consumption using Caspian gas delivered from Azerbaijan via the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector.
On Monday, Bulgargaz also announced the impending arrival at a terminal in Turkey of the first tanker of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery to Bulgaria in 2023, under an agreement with Turkish peer Botas.
