SOFIA (Bulgaria), August 1 (SeeNews) – The Council of the European Union said on Tuesday Bucharest, Sofia and Zagreb, among 16 other cities, have applied to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which is currently based London.
EMA is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU, the Council said in a statement, posted on its website.
Interested member states had until midnight on 31 July to submit their offers to the European Commission and the Council.
The European Commission will now assess all offers and will present its assessment on September 30, it said in a statement.
The Council will then have a political discussion based on this assessment in October, with a final decision by the institution expected to be taken in November.
