BUCHAREST (Romania), November 19 (SeeNews) – Romanian stocks closed mixed on Thursday amid dull trading, hovering around their closing values from a day earlier, as most investors stayed away, brokers said.
The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, ticked down 0.05% to 4,831.98 points. The BET-FI, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, added 0.49% to 22,597.27 points.
The composite BET-C index shed 0.09% to 2,799.26. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, slipped 0.15% to 10,129.46.
BVB's turnover dropped to 6.8 million lei ($2.4 million/1.6 million euro), including 1.0 million lei worth of trading in bonds, from 13.3 million lei on Wednesday. The number of traded shares inched up to 34.9 million from 33.3 million on Wednesday.
SIF 5 Oltenia closed unchanged for a second day in a row at 1.19 lei in the day's largest turnover of 810,000 lei. Blue-chip oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare gained 2.18% to 0.0703 lei on deals worth a total of 591,000 lei, Wednesday’s second highest turnover. Austria’s Erste dipped 0.31% to 128 lei on the regular market in the session’s third largest turnover of 539,000 lei.
Blue-chip bank BRD declined 0.73% to 13.6 lei in 373,000 lei turnover, while its blue-chip peer Banca Transilvania ended flat from Wednesday’s close of 2.13 lei in deals worth 522,000 lei. Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom ended 0.38% down at 0.259 lei in 306,000 lei turnover.
SIF 2 Moldova also closed flat at 1.05 lei in 504,000 lei turnover, while SIF 3 Transilvania climbed 0.77% to 0.655 lei in deals worth 445,000 lei.
Fertiliser maker Amonil jumped 6.64% to 0.0225 lei in deals worth 368,000 lei after it said earlier on Thursday it signed a contract to get processed methane gas from local company Interagro thus avoiding a halt in operations due to a gas shortage.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, ended up 0.04% at 464.74 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, closed 0.37% higher at 614.24 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged up 0.37% to 2,228.44. Turnover on the RASDAQ halved to 606,000 lei from 1.1 million lei on Wednesday.
