April 15 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic government has decided to provide 50 million marka ($27.9 million/25.6 million euro) for financing measures for limiting the spread of the coronavirus disease and mitigating its impact on the economy, it said on Wednesday.
The Serb Republic's finance ministry will transfer the money from the entity's 2020 budget into a solidarity fund tasked with disbursing the money to the beneficiaries, the entity's government said in a press release.
On April 8, the Serb Republic government said it will pay minimum gross wages for April of 68,603 employees of companies unable to operate or working at part of capacity due to the coronavirus crisis, in a total amount of 53.1 million marka. Two days earlier, it said it will take on payment of income tax and social contributions for March of some 40,000 workers from sectors of the economy most affected by the coronavirus crisis, for which it will spend between 17 and 19 million marka.
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Bosnia rose to 1,110 on Wednesday, including 41 fatalities, according to official data.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
