SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), July 15 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Sarajevo Canton will hold talks with local company Sarajevo International for awarding 30-year concession contracts to build and run two hydro power plants (HPPs) worth 30 million marka ($17.3 million/15.3 million euro), the cantonal government said.

The Podlugovi HPP of projected installed capacity of 3.82 MW will generate 18.15 GWh of energy per year, whereas the Ljubinici HPP will have an installed capacity of 4.26 MW and will generate 18.75 GWh per year, the cantonal government said in a press release on Friday.

"I am happy that for the first time in the Sarajevo Canton we have reached the last phase prior to awarding concessions related to hydro power. After all conducted procedures, we start negotiations with the investor," Haris Basic, economy minister of the Sarajevo Canton, said in the release.

The economy ministry will negotiate with Sarajevo International for 60 days, after which it will inform the government about the results.

Both hydro power plants will be built in Ilijas, on the river Bosna, near Sarajevo.

The Sarajevo Canton is one of 10 cantons making up the Federation, one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
